I've considered getting one of these for our german shepherd, my cousin has one for her doberman and swears it's the best thing ever for him. He's afraid of any loud noises, thunder, fireworks, etc. | 09.16.15 @ 15:44

We have used this for our dogs in the past and it has been a great product. It really has helped them when they are scared. Our one dog trembled like crazy through storms and would hid in the bedroom. After using the thundershirt, Atom would stay in the room with us and not tremble at all. | 09.16.15 @ 15:45

I don't personally have experience with Thundershirts because my dog is apparently fearless lol. However, I have several friends who have used them with great success!

These are similar to heavy blankets that are used for kids with autism.. It has a holding weight to them, so when they hear things like fireworks, their anxiety is not so high. Or if they have to be in crowded places, this will help them stay calm. | 09.16.15 @ 16:06

Ann — I worked on a psychiatric nursing unit for years. When certain patients got too upset or out of control - usually out of fear - one technique is to physically hold them down, using the weight of several staff members (all done carefully and gently). This almost always calmed the patient without using drugs. I don't see why it wouldn't work with animals as well. | 01.19.16 @ 20:49
