Having a diabetic pet can have a big impact on an owner’s life. If they want to go on vacation, do they have someone trustworthy to feed and medicate their pet? What if the pet frets and doesn’t eat? This can affect blood glucose levels and insulin requirements. If they are held up at work, there’s the worry about missing a scheduled meal time and insulin injection. Seeing a pet have a hypoglycemic episode is distressing and scary. Of course there’s the necessary expense of medications and regular testing to make sure their diabetes is well controlled. It really is a labor of love to look after a diabetic pet. How has your life been affected by your pet’s diabetes? Do you have any suggestions for the owners of newly diagnosed diabetics? | 11.04.15 @ 05:46
