Residents of Louisiana are reeling following the arrival of devastating floods that have killed thirteen people and damaged more than 60,000 homes. During the natural disaster that has been described as "significant", rainfall of some twenty to thirty inches was recorded over a period of two days, causing rivers to burst their banks. In many areas, the clean-up has already started, as the media filters stories of the miracles and hardships that are occurring. LovePets published one such story recently. These stories of strength, determination, and love are helping communities to come together in the face of utter devastation.
There's little doubt that the flood's impact will be felt for weeks and months to come, but we were cheered by one video that emerged on the Internet last week. During the short clip, a beloved family pet, Slayer, is seen investigating the floodwater and having a ball as he frolics and swims in the river, which has appeared where the road used to be. Despite the depth of the water and shouts from his pet parent, Slayer seems in no hurry to finish his swim. We hope the cheeky dog wasn't in too much trouble when he eventually returned to drier land.
Thank you, Slayer, for allowing us to raise a smile in the aftermath of Louisiana's tragedy. We can only hope that those left behind are able to rebuild their lives soon.
