When Louisiana resident Hollie Mallet checked through her home's CCTV footage, we're almost certain that she wasn't expecting to find what she did – images of a young boy jumping off his bicycle and entering her garage to pet and fuss her dog, Duchess, and then running back out to resume his journey. In fact, he appeared to visit the dog relatively regularly, and rather than being annoyed, Hollie was bowled over by his care for her dog.
She soon took to Facebook in an attempt to identify him: "Attn Neighbors! Anyone know who this sweet little boy is? Every now and then when he rides his bike he will quickly come and love on my dog or play fetch real quick, but always leaves quick like he doesn't know if he should be here! I'd like to tell him he's welcome to stay and play, she loves the attention!"
In no time at all, a local woman, Ginger Breaux, came forward and confirmed that the boy was her son, Josh: "Thanks for the add Hollie! Josh talks about your dog all the time! Every time we pass he looks to see if she was sitting where he could see her. Just didn't know he was doing things like this. Last night when I first saw it, I was torn as a momma being happy and upset because he knows he shouldn't be on someone's property, but I wake up this morning more happy that he just absolutely adores dogs so much."
Hollie was thrilled that her post had been so well-received, and that Josh's love for dogs was being shared so widely: "So glad to see that innocence and love was caught on camera instead of what they are normally used for. Can't believe all the views this post has received, so glad to have captured this sweetness!"
Following a number of questions regarding Josh getting a pup of his own, his mom was quick to reply that their family dog, Bella, had only recently passed away, and that the family has yet to replace her.
We think that Josh should be so proud of his bond with Duchess, and hope he's able to share that love with a dog of his own soon.
