One key element to getting dogs to behave better is making sure that they have sufficient exercise. If you know that someone is coming over then taking your dog for a nice long walk to tire him out will be very helpful. The next key is to teach your dog boundaries. Let them know that they are not allowed near the door unless invited. You can also teach them that when someone is at the door that there is a specific spot that they are supposed to go to and stay there until they are invited over. If you accomplish this you simply wait for the dog to calm all the way down before you give them permission to greet your guest. Providing space is how dogs welcome guests into their territory and say I am okay that you are here. | 07.10.17 @ 17:05

When you say "behave," do you mean that your dog is barking a lot or jumping on your guests? Please explain in more detail for a more precise answer. | 02.01.18 @ 02:30
