I have recently seen that my dog has more eye discharge than normal after playing with my neighbors dog. What are possible causes of this?

Hi Victor, there are a couple of possibilities here. Firstly, it may be because some dust or dirt has got into your dog's eyes while they've been wrestling with their friend. This can lead to irritation and watery eyes, and a secondary bacterial infection. Another possibility is that your pooch has sustained some trauma to the eye such as a scratch to the cornea. This too causes increased eye discharge and is very painful. I don’t like to take chances with eyes; things can go very wrong very quickly so I’d encourage you to have your dog’s eyes looked at by your vet as soon as you can. If it’s just a mild irritation that would be great, but if it’s something more serious then treatment can be started straight away. | 10.28.15 @ 00:28
