What did you get up to yesterday? Perhaps you went to work, did a few chores, or caught up on your favorite television series, but did you break any world records? Sailor, a black Poodle from Vernon Hills, Illinois, did, and he's super proud about it! You see, while the rest of us were going about our day, this talented dog was balancing on a globe for ten meters, and he did it in just 33.22 seconds – a feat many of his two-legged counterparts would struggle with.
What makes Sailor's feat even more incredible is that he was rescued at just six months old after prospective pet parents were told that he was aggressive and would need to be put down. Alex Rothacker, Sailor's pet parent and trainer, wasn't convinced that his new dog was all bad though, and set about training him – and the results are astounding. Sailor now has several Guinness World Records to his name, as well as some that have since been broken, including the record for walking up twenty stairs on hind legs. One thing's for sure; Sailor loves to entertain.
"The greatest thing in life is making people happy and performing and making people laugh… And that's what Sailor does," said Alex, as he explained that entertaining people always makes Sailor excited. This talented trainer has a number of other exemplary pets to his name, including Sweet Pea, who has held the record for the "Fastest 100-meter with a can balanced on head by a dog" since September 2008.
According to reports from the Hawthorn Middle School yesterday, Sailor broke an additional record – we haven't been told what that is yet, but we look forward to filling you in as soon as we can. Well done Alex and Sailor for proving that you can teach an overlooked dog new tricks.
